In the evening of March 24 and morning of March 25, the tweet of the Ukrainian parliament (the Verkhovna Rada) welcoming the hostilities Azerbaijan launched on the same day in Nagorno Karabakh was actively discussed on the Armenian Internet.
The post says: “Azerbaijani armed forces launched an offensive in Karabakh, taking advantage of the fact that Russian soldiers were sent to Ukraine.”
In the afternoon of March 24, the Artsakh Information Headquarters reported that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces had violated the line of contact in the direction of the village of Parukh in the Askeran region. The situation was also tense in Khramort village in Askeran region. On the morning of March 25, the Artsakh Information Headquarters reported that Azerbaijani units opened fire on the Defense Army units at night, using both firearms of various calibers and combat drones.
In fact, the Russian peacekeeping mission in Artsakh continues its activities, and there is no reliable information about any soldiers from the peacekeeping troops having been sent to Ukraine. Moreover, the peacekeepers are participating in the negotiations of the Armenian side with the Azerbaijanis in the recent escalation of tensions.
“At the moment, the peacekeepers are at their bases, and negotiations are ongoing,” the Artsakh Information Headquarters reports.
Therefore, the claim in the Ukrainian parliament’s Twitter post that Russian soldiers were transferred from Nagorno Karabakh to Ukraine is in no way substantiated and is manipulative.
It should be noted that the Twitter post of the Ukrainian parliament caused a great stir among Armenian users. It was condemned not only by Armenian users but also by some Ukrainian users, who wrote that the policy of ethnic cleansing pursued by dictator Aliyev should not be supported.
Eventually, the tweet was removed with the efforts of the Armenian Embassy in Ukraine.
