Russian Media Outlets Tell about an Invented Flashmob

13:30, 7 Feb, 2018

A number of Russian media outlets reported about a flashmob in Europe entitled “Forgive me”, which allegedly involved rape victims of immigrants apologizing to their rapists.

…”The level of tolerance in Europe exceeds all the records. Victims of violence in the EU have launched a flashmob with the help of which they are trying to apologize to the immigrants who have dishonored them. According to the organizers’ idea, women should place a photo on a page in one of the social networks holding a poster with the name of their rapists on it and a letter of apology,” 360-Degree TV Channel reports.

However, this news reported by the Russian TV company is an invented disinformation that has also found its way to online media.

“The aim of the flashmob is the European women’s repentance for their immoral behavior and clothing that have forced immigrants to resort to sexual violence against women,” “Noviye Izvestia” newspaper writes.

However, no such flashmob has taken place at all. The Russian media have invented it, distorting a number of facts and manipulating them.

The only evidence of the flashmob in the media was a photograph showing a girl with a poster “Forgive me, Mustafa”. Actually, the photo shown has been edited and modified. The original photo was taken in October 2014, and the girl in the picture is not a victim of abuse by immigrants, but a participant of the “ЗігрійГероя” (“Warm the Hero”) campaign in Ukraine. And the poster contains the “It is cold, think about those who sleep in the trench” note in Ukrainian, and not “Forgive me, Mustafa,” as the Russian media claims.

Russian media often present European values as “perversive,” and continue with the “uselessness of the European tolerance.”

Earlier, SUT.am reported about the disinformation and manipulations published in the article entitled “Armenia should expect incest parades or where LGBT propaganda will lead to” by Sputnik agency’s Armenian Service.
