Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim is currently in Azerbaijan to participate in the sixth World Forum in Baku on March 15-17, 2018 and has already spread disinformation about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Within the framework of his visit, Yildirim has given interviews to the Azerbaijani media. In particular, in an interview with AZ TV on March 14, 2018 he stated, “The UN and all the other [international] organizations admit that Armenia is wrong.” Moreover, in an interview with the APA, Yildirim stated that all the nations as well as the United Nations and the OSCE recognize Azerbaijan’s fair position on this issue.
Let us remind that the OSCE Minsk Group is the only mediator in the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations. According to the official position of the OSCE Minsk Group on the issue, the Nagorno Karabakh conflict should be settled peacefully based on the principles of territorial integrity, as well as the equal rights and self-determination of peoples. In the meantime, the United Nations has repeatedly stated at the highest level that the organization supports the OSCE Minsk Group position on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The EU also has a similar position. In fact, the largest international organizations operating in the region have a clear neutral position on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Consequently, the above-mentioned statements of the Turkish Prime Minister not only do not correspond with the reality, but also once again demonstrate Turkey’s biased position on the issue of the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, while Turkey is a member of the OSCE Minsk Group.
