Iravunk newspaper has published an article in the January 29 issue entitled “Modest Nikol Pashinyan’s Modest Relatives”, which claims that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s niece has bought a beauty salon in Novorossiysk, Russia.
“A girl named Diana Pashinyan has bought the most magnificent beauty salon in Novorossiysk for 90 million rubles (million and a half dollars). It turns out that Diana Pashinyan is the daughter of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s brother” reads the article.
Citing its source, the newspaper mentions that the aforementioned niece has big businesses in Armenia as well. “Diana Pashinyan owns a hotel and two restaurants in Dilijan, Tavush province.”
7or.am , 168.am, analitik.am, tert.am, hayeli.am, times.am online news outlets and others have republished the article in its entirety.
The Fact Investigation Platform decided to verify the authenticity of the allegations in the article.
Pashinyan has no niece named Diana
Speaking to Fip.am, MP Sipan Pashinyan, Nikol Pashinyan’s nephew, said that the article does not correspond to the reality since he does not have a niece named Diana Pashinyan, moreover, he has no such relatives.
Diana Pashinyan also denies it
In addition, searching in open sources on novorossiysk.zoon.ru, we found information on the Diana Pashinyan Beauty Salon in Novorossiysk (Instagram: @grimerka_nvrsk). We contacted Diana Pashinyan, director of the salon (Instagram: @diana_pashinyan), who confirmed that she has nothing to do with Nikol Pashinyan.
According to the owner of the salon, she has just married and has taken her husband’s surname – Pashinyan. Diana Pashinyan also mentioned that her beauty salon has been operating in Novorossiysk for a year now, and she has no businesses in Armenia. As for Diana’s husband, his name is Vazgen, and he has no relation to the prime minister.
Thus, the article in the Iravunk newspaper claiming that Nikol Pashinyan’s niece has opened a beauty salon in Novorossiysk is completely false.
