On May 17, 2018, the police issued a short report and mentioned the first letters of the names and surnames of possible participants in April mass disorders in Avan district, Yerevan. A brief description of the incident was also presented.
The police statement particularly said, “As a result of the operative-investigative activities, a group of people, who allegedly committed the aforementioned crimes, have been identified, mainly the residents of Yerevan city A.M., A.Y., S.Gh., G.Gh., A.G., A.V., G.A., A.a., S.H., V.S., S.S., A.M.. The latter’s data were provided to the preliminary investigation body to carry out necessary investigative actions.̋ At first glance, the abbreviations of the names and surnames do not say anything about who the alleged offenders are. However, in its May 19 issue Haykakan Zhamanak daily published the names of the mentioned persons and the positions they hold:
A.M. – Arman Makaryan. Deputy Director of Yerevan Zoo. The latter is in a close relationship with Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan. Makaryan and his Toyota model car, with no license plate, were seen at the site.
A.M. – Arnak Manucharyan. Chairman of “Narek” condominium in Avan. On April 22, 2018, he was also among the criminal group.
A.Y. – Armen Yeremyan. He is one of the owners of the “Milena” taxi service and a close friend of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan.
S.Gh. – Samvel Ghumashyan. Deputy Head of Avan Administrative District.
G. Gh. – Grigor Ghumashyan. The latter is Samvel Ghumashyan’s son. He is an employee of Yerevan Municipality. On April 22, 2018, he and his father were in Avan, in front of Taron Margaryan’s private house.
A. G. – Artur Gasparyan. He is an employee of Avan administrative district, chief specialist. The latter appeared in the march for a moment, then went to Taron Margaryan’s private house, and, in the end, he was seen wearing a medical mask among the group of people who had closed the road. During the whole process, there was a young man with Arthur Gasparyan, wearing a blue-colored sports uniform, whose identity is yet unknown.
A.V. – Armen Vardumyan. Chief Doctor of Avan Policlinic. The latter was also among the group.
G.A. – Gegham Antoyan. He is seen in one of the group photos, wearing a sports and a military uniform.
A.A. – Artur Aghajanyan. He is a member of the Republican Party. About a month ago, he occupied the position of assistant to Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan.
S.H. – Sergo Hayrapetyan. According to media reports, Sergo Hayrapetyan, the head of the RPA youth organization in Avan, was involved in the process of recruiting members for the criminal group.
V.S. – Vrul Sargsyan. The latter is one of the friends of Taron Margaryan’s elder son.
S.S. – Suren Safaryan. He is the chief specialist of the Revenue Collection Department of the Avan administrative district. He was a member of the same group in Avan.
In a surprising coincidence, those people are the same people, about whom we made two publications (Publication 1 and Publication 2) earlier.
That is to say, the police, having a whole arsenal of means for identification of the citizens, managed to “reveal” information exclusively about the people, that we had been able to reveal a month ago.
