On April 15, Robert Kocharyan’s Facebook page shared a statement according to which former President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev sent a letter to Kocharyan, in which he recalled warmly the years of their joint work and expressed hope that “further personal contacts would be continuous.”
Several media outlets spread the news, and rumors started circulating in the press that Kazakhstan allegedly called on the Armenian authorities to release Robert Kocharyan because his arrest had a negative impact on the Armenian-Kazakh relations.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Armenia, Timur Urazyaev, has already responded to the rumors in the press. The latter explained on his Facebook page that Nazarbayev has sent a letter to all three presidents of Armenia, thanking them for their joint work and achievements.
The ambassador also noted that similar thank-you letters were sent to all heads of states with whom Kazakhstan cooperated during the years of its independence.
