Some senior officials in Armenia have varying hobbies: expensive houses, cars, plate numbers equivalent to the price and make of the car, and etc. Some even change their home addresses in order to make them more “gold”.
Interestingly, the officials’ love for numbers is not limited merely to car plate numbers and home addresses. For many, the passport number is also important.
We could see from the CEC website that the most “gold” number is undoubtedly that of Serzh Sargsyan: AF 0555555. The second honorable place in the list is occupied by former Chief of the RA Police, RPA deputy Alik Sargsyan: AK0444440.
No less attractive are the passport numbers of former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and former Minister of Transport and Communication Gagik Beglaryan: AK 0200020 և AM 0477777.
There are “gold” number lovers among RA National Assembly deputies as well.
Republican Party of Armenia:
Armen Ashotyan: AK0322322,
Manvel Grigoryan: AK0550045 (matches with the number of his car),
Gevorg Kostanyan: AN0707777,
Arman Saghatelyan: AK0488000,
Arayik Grigoryan: AH0299099,
Felix Tsolakyan: AK0555558,
Arpine Hovhannisyan (ID number)՝ 003224466,
Shushan Petrosyan: AM0522000,
Levon Martirosyan: AM0400044,
Rafik Grigoryan: AP0666555,
Aram Harutyunyan AK0690009,
Tsarukyan Bloc:
Gagik Tsarukyan: BA1048888,
Argam Abrahamyan: AM0755557,
Vardan Ghukasyan: AH0238888,
Ishkhan Zakaryan: BA2323232.
In order to be able to understand this phenomenon, we tried to obtain information from the Passport and Visa Department of the RA Police. They informed us that “According to RA legislation, there is no established procedure for choosing passport numbers with preferred or repeated numbers and publishing unpublished blank numbers”.
Most probably, the Police have decided to violate the order for some “more equal” citizens so that these people have passports with “gold” numbers.
