Yesterday, on October 4, various Azerbaijani sources spread two videos to demonstrate their “military achievements” in the ongoing hostilities in Artsakh.
First, Azerbaijan announced on the presidential level that the Azerbaijani armed forces had captured the town of Jabrail (Mekhakavan) and several villages. Although that claim was refuted by Artsrun Hovhannisyan, representative of the RA Ministry of Defense, the pro-government website haqqin.az published a video which allegedly showed the “liberated” city of Jabrayil. The video was allegedly shot by journalist Vahid Mustafa!
Although the video shows the bridges of Khoda Afarin, which is really in the territory of Jabrayil region, the shooting was done from the territory of Iran and it is mentioned in the article of haqqin.az too. Therefore, the video made from the territory of Iran cannot be considered as evidence that the Azerbaijani army captured Jabrail.
According to Google Earth the the part shown in the video in is about 30 km away from the city of Jabrayil. In other words, even if the video was made yesterday, on October 4, it could not have shown the capture of Jabrayil as the video shows only an abandoned village.
The second “evidence” of the Azerbaijani side referred to the missiles allegedly launched from Armenia targeting the industrial city of Mingechaur. A number of Azeri sources, including some telegram channels and the consul of Azerbaijan to Los Angeles, released a video in which he complained about the Azerbaijani Air Defense Forces (ADF) allegedly hitting missiles fired from the Armenian side.
In reality, however, this video was made in October 2018 in Israel. In the video, the Israeli air defense hits the missiles fired by the Palestinians from Gaza.
Moreover, Azerbaijan claims that the missiles were fired from the territory of Armenia for which they did not provide any evidence. This claim was also officially refuted by the speaker of the RA Ministry of Defense.
And so they do not distinguish between the missiles
Hikmet Haji, adviser to the President of Azerbaijan, also made an absurd claim noting that Armenia had fired missiles from Tochka-U system in the direction of Mingechaur, but his photos clearly showed two “Smerch” volley fire rockets. It is noteworthy that Smerch rockets can reach a maximum of 90 km, and Mingechaur is at least 110 km away from the Armenian border.
But it is also noteworthy that it is the second time that Azerbaijani state bodies confuse the missiles of “Tochka-U” and “Smerch” systems. The previous time such a mistake was made by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan.
Thus, in just one day, various Azerbaijani sources released two videos about their “military achievements” and actions ascribed to the Armenian side. Both, in fact, do not substantiate their claims in any way.
